Terry Wahls
The following is yet more useful information for anyone you might know who has MS, this time a TED talk given by Terry Wahls
She explains how she overcame MS, an 'incurable' chronic disease. Went to the best MS centre she could find. Saw the best doctors, received the best care possible. She took the latest, newest drug. Took the recommended chemotherapy, got a motorised, tilt-recline wheelchair. Brain-shrinking diseases include MS, Parkinson's, Huntington's chorea and Alzheimer's. She discovered the connection ... mitochondria problems. Initially she self-treated with fish oil, creatine and co-enzyme Q10. Decline slowed but did not stop.
Myelin sheaths deteriorate in brain cells. She then used Vitamins B1, B9 and B12, iodine and omega fatty acids to nourish the myelin sheaths. B vitamins, sulphur and anti-oxidants are required for the mitochonria to work.
Then it occurred to her to get all these from food. She embarked on a hunter-gatherer diet.
3 cups of green leaves: rich in B vitamins, vitamins A, C, K and minerals. Kale has the most nutrition per calorie of any plant.
3 cups of sulphur-rich vegetables: Cabbage family, onions, mushrooms, asparagus
3 cups of colour: Beets, peppers, red cabbage, brightly coloured fruits.
Grass-fed meat: organ meats are vital sources of vitamins minerals and co-enzyme Q.
Seaweed: Iodine and selenium.
During the talk she reveals her deteriorated state in a photograph, as she was in 2007, unable to walk without two sticks. She is now a fully recovered survivor of MS.
